And More Advice For The Shy Introvert On Meeting And Dating Women
Posted by Marc in introversion and shynessFor some, the idea of getting more skilled at socializing with strangers, approaching, attracting and dating women can be a scary prospect. It only seems that way because you’re imagining yourself doing all of those things right now. Remember that you will overcome shyness gradually by taking many small steps along the way.
Imagine the first day at a new job that you have little previous experience for. If you were expected to assume your full responsibilities right away without training, it would be a disaster.
But with time you find yourself easily mastering the responsibilities of your job. You might even think back at how unnecessary it was to be nervous during your first few days.
This is true with mastering any new skill. Socializing and dating are nothing more than skill sets and can be learned like any other. You only need the will to go ahead and just do it.
More suggestions to help you:
1.) Do some confidence building.
Self esteem is a tricky thing. When you’re engaged in something that you’re good at, you feel good about yourself.
When tackling something new there may be a tendency to assume the worst possible outcome. Put all irrational pessimism out of your head and focus on the things that make you great.
To help you do this, put together a list of your accomplishments, skills, character traits, and the best moments of your life. This is a list of all of the things that make you a great person. This is what you have to offer others.
Take pride in this. This isn’t some game that you’re playing to fool yourself into feeling confident. Your list is real.
Another way build confidence is through athletic activity. Start up a physical fitness routine. Some people choose body building because of the obvious improvements that they experience. But any type of physical training makes you feel fitter and increases your overall sense of well being.
2.) Don’t be afraid of rejection.
Not all people are compatible with each other. Rejection is just part of the process of filtering out those that shouldn’t be together.
The truth is that you wouldn’t want to be successful with every woman you encounter. There are many women who are miserable human beings. You are better off not knowing them.
When you’re reasonably proficient at your social skills and become the confident person that you have every right to be, rejection will have nothing to do with your ‘flaws’. It will be all about compatibility.
3.) Learn to listen and remember what the other person is saying.
This will allow you to ask open ended questions to learn more about her. Use this information to find points in common that you can talk about.
If there is nothing at all that the two of you can talk about, then she’s incompatible. It not your fault that it didn’t work out. It’s just fate.
4.) Don’t have high expectations about someone you know little about.
Don’t place yourself under any unnecessary pressure by viewing your encounter with a woman as a test with some end goal in mind. Just relax and enjoy the conversation. See where things naturally take you.
Remember to take small steps. You’re learning a new skill that will enhance your life. Don’t think of it as risk taking because it isn’t. Nothing physical or monetary is at risk here. You are just doing something new.
